Sometimes success as an Artist is mostly about one thing - refusing to listen to "them".
"They" said no one could ever break the 4 minute mile.
"They" told Walt Disney he was crazy, and his ideas could never be accomplished.
They told the Wright brothers no one could ever build a flying machine, man was not meant to fly.
They told Gene Roddenberry that no one would ever want to watch his far out TV show, and it would quickly be forgotten.
Thomas Edison was told repeatedly that he could't possibly create the light bulb.
They told Mozart his musical compositions were bizarre, and that no one could appreciate them.
They said man could not travel to space, land on the moon, harness the power of the atom, and on and on and on.
History is filled with examples of people being told what they could not do, what they can't accomplish,
what isn't possible, and often, why they shouldn't even try.
Those with vision are the ones who have helped to bring our world out of the dark ages, and raise the standard of living
for people everywhere.
People without any vision, without any dreams, are usually 'them': those who say 'no' to bold ideas, new concepts, and revolutionary ideas.
Always remember, as an Artist, or as a human being, hold to your vision, your dreams, what you make up your mind to
accomplish, keep on pursuing whatever it is you want out of life, and don't listen to "them".
